About Us

Tom Morello street show during SXSW

Austin Audio Cooperative was formed in 2012 by friends who met while participating in Occupy Austin and other local activist communities. Their shared interest in audio, videography, music, and event production led to such memorable events as the Party Wagon (a flash mob moving dance party), Occupy Southby (a series of free musical and education events during SXSW at several locations around Austin, including an outdoor/indoor event with Tom Morello which packed the streets with fans and ended in being shut down by police), ROOTSAPALOOZA, Open Stage @ ROOTS, and Revolution in the Park.

In recent years, some of our work includes:

  • High definition video projection, 24′ screen, and sound for the critically acclaimed Cinema East outdoor film series.
  • Live sound, video projection, and lighting for Vice Magazine’s Casa Indio art and music festival.
  • Live sound and lighting for Festival de las Artes Latinoamericanas which brought performers from all over Latin America to Austin’s Mexican American Cultural Center.
